Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh reports relatively modest finances, debt repayment

Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., and Linda Sanchez, D-Calif., were highlighting what they see as the threat to abortion rights from President Donald Trump's nomination of Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

New Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh reportedly went deep in debt in order to purchase Washington Nationals tickets, according to the Washington Post.

"At this time, the Kavanaughs have no debts beyond their home mortgage", White House spokesman Raj Shah said.

A serious "investigative report" by the serious Washington Post on Thursday brought to light a shocking fact about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh: he bought some baseball tickets for his friends on his personal credit cards, then later paid off the debts when his friends reimbursed him.

There was a look of glee in Del Potro's sometimes sad eyes, and his lumbering between-points walk had a bit more energy to it. Nadal, struggling to get a solid second serve into hard areas, was de-fanged for long stretches.

Kavanaugh, known to be a baseball fan, was paid back by his friends and retired the debt in 2017.

The Post reported that Kavanaugh incurred between $15,000 to $50,000 in credit card debt for each account as well as a Thrift Savings Plan loan between $15,000 to $50,000. Enzler, who attended the White House announcement Monday, said Kavanaugh is part of a Roman Catholic society that volunteers to serve meals a number of times a year.

- "Purchasing season tickets to watch the chronically disappointing Washington Nationals play baseball in their charmless stadium year after year", Deadspin deadpanned "is a troubling sign of poor judgment".

The White House says that his friends reimbursed him for the tickets and that the judge no longer is a Nationals season ticket subscriber.

Within weeks, he started to oversee the project implementation himself, leading the Nord Stream AG's shareholder committee. There is no certainty it would attract support in Washington from leading Republicans.

Shah said the payments for the tickets were made at the end of 2016 and paid off early the next year. The value of residences is not subject to disclosure, and Shah added that Kavanaugh has a government retirement account worth almost half a million dollars that also was not required to be disclosed.

Separate from the disclosure forms, the White House said that between Kavanaugh's retirement account balance of $400,000 to $500,000, and the equity in his home in Chevy Chase, Maryland, he has about an additional million dollars in wealth. And while it won't get Kavanaugh an intentional walk from Senate Democrats, they might want to consider how Kavanaugh compares to their own records before putting a few pitches under his chin.

Kavanaugh has bank account worth $65,000. That, the Washington Post reports, puts him "at the bottom of the financial ranking of justices, most of whom list well over $1 million in assets".

'Judge Kavanaugh is a brilliant jurist who has dedicated his life to public service, ' Shah said. Associate justices on the Supreme Court make $255,300, while Chief Justice John Roberts draws a $267,000 salary.
