Trump lawyer blasts Russia probe as ‘most corrupt ever

Rudy Giuliani, the lawyer for President Trump, said Sunday that Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen "should cooperate with the government".

Michael Cohen's new lawyer blasted Rudy Giuliani for suggesting President Trump's former longtime fixer tell the truth to the special counsel's Russian Federation investigation.

In an interview last week with Stephanopoulos, Cohen acknowledged that he soon could face criminal charges in an ongoing Federal Bureau of Investigation probe of his finances and business dealings.

Both CNN's Dana Bash and ABC's George Stephanopoulos pushed back against Giuliani's comments.

"I have no concerns that Michael Cohen is going to do anything but tell the truth, and if he does, as I said, there's no suggestion that anything happened", Giuliani maintained.

"We have no reason to believe he did anything wrong", Giuliani said.

As for Giuliani's request that Mueller present evidence of Trump committing a crime before an interview, McCarthy said he's "quite right to go there".

Since returning to Trumps' orbit as his new lead attorney, Giuliani has become a fixture on television, occasionally making news and routinely promising anyone who will listen that he will bring the Russian Federation collusion investigation to a close.

In April, President Trump said he did not believe Cohen would cooperate with investigators.

Politico's Josh Gerstein was the first to point out the discrepancy between Giuliani's comments and Trump's denial. "How many people will be sent to jail and persecuted on old and/or totally unrelated charges (there was no collusion and there was no obstruction of the no collusion)".

In his interview last week, Cohen said Trump "simply accepting the denial of" Russian President Vladimir Putin that he didn't meddle in the 2016 U.S. presidential election was "unsustainable".

He said that the president would not agree to be interviewed as part of the Mueller probe unless the special counsel "can satisfy us that there's some basis for this investigation".

On NBC's Meet the Press, Giuliani said he doesn't think Mueller, a former Federal Bureau of Investigation director, is personally biased or corrupt, but that "he's surrounded by biased people" he failed to vet properly, including Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok, whose anti-Trump text exchanges from 2016 fed Republican allegations of bias.

Davis was referring to Giuliani's appearance on ABC.

"The reality is that there are biases that have to be explored surrounding Mueller", Giuliani said. Mr. Cohen has denied any wrongdoing.
