"They're All Gone": Woman Survives Crash That Killed Husband, 4 Daughters


Five of the six Filipino-American family members who just came from a summer beach vacation were killed in a horrific vehicle crash in Townsend, Delaware over the weekend.

Four girls and their father were killed Friday afternoon on Route 1 when a pickup truck suddenly crossed the median and hit a minivan and auto. The children were identified as 20-year-old Kaitlyn, 17-year-old Danna and 13-year-olds Melissa and Allison.

The 53-year-old mother, Mary Rose, survived the crash, but is seriously hurt. The pickup truck had two people inside who were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the auto, 24-year-old Brian Kern from Bethlehem, Pa., was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released. Kern suffered minor injuries.

Delaware State Police identified the father Sunday as 61-year-old Audie Trinidad of Teaneck, New Jersey. "I'm just praying for her".

Nelson's daughter, Kim Trinidad, had lived with Audie Trinidad's family for four years, since graduating from nursing school in the Philippines. Authorities said they are investigating whether impairment was a factor. "I'm so blessed to be with the Teaneck Community and grieving with you for the Trinidad family", Teaneck Mayor Mohammed Hameeduddin said during a program for the Trinidads.

The Trinidad family were on their way home from the beach. Police said the father and the girls were pronounced dead at the scene; the daughters were not wearing seatbelts.
