1 dead, 20 injured in S.Africa vintage plane crash

A charter plane crashed in South Africa on Tuesday, killing one person and injuring 20 others.

ER24 in a tweet confirmed the fatality following the crash.

Eyewitnesses described seeing the plane attempt to veer toward Wonderboom airport, then hearing an explosion.

Paramedics helped survivors out of the aircraft and treated patients at the scene as firefighters tackled the smoking wreckage.

Photos on social media showed the plane's fuselage broken, dented, and charred.

He said the pilot was in a critical condition following the crash. Reports say that there have been no deaths but there are 20 people injured.

"We suspect that the plane was on its way to the Wonderboom airport", said Mahamba.
