Officials Appear Close To Launching Cave Rescue In Thailand, CBS News Reports

The boys and their coach hiked into the Tham Luang cave complex when it was relatively dry, only to be walled in after monsoon rains triggered a flash flood.

The site near the cave's entrance had swelled with media, volunteers and onlookers since the operation started, and authorities' patience has worn thin.

Media have been asked to leave the area by 9am local time (noon, AEST) Sunday, and the site was evacuated for a "rescue operation". Rescuers have been pumping water around the clock in an effort to drain the deluged cave enough so that the boys can safely exit the cave.

Rescuers are also pursuing other options to extract the boys, hoping that finding a shaft or drilling into the mountain in which the cave is located will lead them to a sort of backdoor entrance.
