Activist Who Climbed Statue Is No Stranger to Being Arrested

Aged 44, Therese Patricia Okoumou managed to scale the base structure of the statue around 3.30 p.m. and was taken in by the police after three hours.

Activists with the group Rise and Resist say they hung the banner to protest US immigration policy. The group said the climber is not affiliated with the earlier protest.
