Huge brawl erupts after Aussie basketballer hit by 'disgusting' act

A FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers game between the Philippines and Australia came to a shocking and terrifying conclusion midway through the third quarter when a bench-clearing brawl broke out, resulting in the ejection of 13 players.

Tensions boiled over with four minutes remaining in the third quarter with players and officials from both sides, plus a number of unruly fans, flooding the court at the Philippine Arena on Monday night (Tuesday NZ Time).

Once referees regained control over the chaos, a tape of the brawl was reviewed and a total of 13 players were ejected from the game, nine of which were from the Philippines.

Cavaliers select Alabama's Sexton with No. 8 pick
The problem with the Cavs' brass is that they have made a lot of questionable decisions about what would make that more likely. James has spent this week on a family vacation and the Cavaliers approached the draft without knowing his intentions.

Maker, Daniel Kickert, Nathan Sobey, and Chris Goulding were all ejected for Australia.

Some Philippines players actually posed for selfies after the fight. After a physical sequence, RR Pogoy shoved Australia's Chris Goulding to the floor.

The game ended in 89-53 win for Australia, "but thoughts are with the safety of all players", Basketball Australia said on Twitter.

The International Basketball Federation (Fiba) has opened disciplinary proceedings against both sides. "But of course, it's an unfortunate incident, we don't want these things to happen". DeAndre Jordan will opt out of contract, will become a free agent

Australia has already apologized for its role in the unfortunate incident and said that it will await whatever penalties will be handed out.
