Blood Moon Eclipse Probably Not A Bad Omen, According To Boring Astrophysicist

Blood Moon Eclipse Probably Not A Bad Omen, According To Boring Astrophysicist

A blood moon - and the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century - will occur on the night of June 27 and the morning of June 28.

Visible on the night of Friday July 27, the phenomenon will be the most extensive of its kind in more than a century. Die hard moon fans of a certain age may remember the total lunar eclipse from 18 years ago (July 16, 2000) which lasted for 1 hour and 46.4 minutes, when the moon was even more centered in the shadow than it will be a month from now, or than it will be again for a while.

The eclipse will last almost 40 minutes longer than the January 31 Super Blue Blood Moon, which was the longest total lunar eclipse of the year until then, reported.

Supreme Court ruling gives hope to local retailers
Lawmakers in the state, which has no income tax, passed a law created to directly challenge the Supreme Court's 1992 decision. For small businesses, local advertising may now more effectively draw consumers away from the e-Commerce giants.

The longest possible lunar eclipse is 1 hour and 47 minutes, according to EarthSky. The January eclipse's duration was of 77 minutes when the Moon's lower limb appeared much brighter than the dark upper limb.

"Sometimes called an apogean full moon, or micro-moon or mini-moon, this smaller and slower-moving full moon takes more time to cross the Earth's shadow than does a full moon that's closer to Earth and moving faster in orbit", McClure said.

The total lunar eclipse will follow the super blue blood moon of January 31, which too was a once-in-a-lifetime event when a supermoon, lunar eclipse and blue moon combine together at the same time.

Recent red skies are apparently down to the specific scattering of light particles through the atmosphere.

People in Asia, Australia and Indonesia will get the greatest view of the eclipse during morning hours.

A lunar eclipse happens when the Sun, Earth and Moon line up, so the moon is in Earth's shadow. The event will be directly visible in most parts of Europe and its surrounding regions, so those in other parts of the world might have to simply enjoy the extremely rare celestial event through live news coverage or watch it online. This freakish phenomenon is known as "Rayleigh scattering" filters out bands of green and violet light in the atmosphere during an eclipse. Meanwhile, only parts of South America will get to witness the final stages of the eclipse, and North America, the Arctic, and numerous fish in the Pacific Ocean won't get to see it at all.

Nigeria v Argentina - Preview and possible lineups
The Super Eagles will progress to the last sixteen if Lionel Messi and co. fail to find the net. But then we want to be prepared for on the pitch conditions, which is very important.
