Trump adviser Kushner criticizes Abbas, says USA peace plan near

United States president Donald Trump's senior adviser, Jared Kushner in an interview with Al-Quds Palestinian newspaper said that his country will go on with its Middle East peace plan which has not been announced yet, whether Abbas agrees to participate in it or not.

Kushner spoke in an interview with the Palestinian newspaper Al Quds, the Arabic name for Jerusalem.

Kushner, who along with U.S. envoy Jason Greenblatt, visited Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt before talks on Friday and Saturday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said Arab leaders conveyed they wanted to see a Palestinian state.

Kushner and Greenblatt said in a statement upon returning to Israel on Friday and meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that they discussed "the means by which the humanitarian situation in Gaza can be alleviated, while maintaining Israel's security".

"If President Abbas is ready to go back to the negotiations table, then we are ready to participate in the discussion, but if it's not the case, then we are going to make the plan public", Kushner said, according to Reuters. The spokesman said peace could only be achieved through fulfilling the Palestinian right to statehood.
