President says GOP lawmakers should 'stop wasting time' on immigration

Passage of the bill was always a long shot, but failure may now come at a steeper price as Republicans - and Trump - have raised expectations that, as the party in control of Congress and the White House, they can fix the nation's long-standing immigration problems.

And while Melania Trump sought to demonstrate concern with a surprise visit to migrant children at the border Thursday, the administration remained under siege amid continued accounts of parents unable to find their children and no system in place for reuniting them.

In San Diego, around 1,500 demonstrators gathered, with many wearing jackets featuring the statement "We really care, do you?" - referencing Melania Trump's jacket emblazoned with "I really don't care".

Trump administration officials cited that court case when deciding to separate children from parents and guardians going through criminal proceedings.

Rep. Ryan Costello, a Chester County Republican who represents part of Berks and who isn't seeking re-election, said Trump's comments stalled any momentum immigration legislation might have had and took away an incentive for those who were on the fence.

The Trump administration announced plans in April to prosecute all immigrants caught along the southwest border with illegally entering the country.

Attempts to reach Vasquez for comment were unsuccessful. "We plan to share more on the changes we'll make to our programme soon". Tempe police concluded that Vasquez should have been able to avoid the deadly collision if she had been paying proper attention.

The House defeated a more conservative immigration alternative last week.

"What is the goal of the House doing good immigration bills when you need 9 votes by Democrats in the Senate, and the Dems are only looking to Obstruct (which they feel is good for them in the Mid-Terms)", Trump said.

A vote on the bill, which would fund a border wall while reducing legal migration, has been delayed to Friday.

McCaul is suggesting Congress may need to pass a "skinny" immigration bill dealing with family separation if the more wide-ranging version fails.

GOP Sen. Mark Sanford of SC, who lost his reelection primary after clashing with Trump, was asked Friday morning if he thinks the House immigration compromise bill is "dead in the water".

Trump's latest tweets came after the Republican-controlled House failed to attract enough Republican support to pass a hard-line immigration bill that mirrored the president's positions.

Spain now sit on top of the group by virtue of receiving one fewer yellow card than their neighbours after two matches. We can improve, and I hope we will keep winning while we do so, but nobody is giving anything away easily.

So why didn't Trump get behind one of the two GOP bills? Headwinds from the controversy-embracing president and a wave of retirements in the House have put the GOP majority at severe risk.

Before Republicans postponed a vote on the bill on Thursday, the president blamed Senate Democrats for its weak prospects of becoming law.

"We can not allow all of these people to invade our Country", Trump wrote. I think the story will continue to unfold on immigration and people will continue to be very concerned.

While the U.S. leader bowed to global outrage over the splitting of families, government agencies were unable to say what would happen to the children already sent to tent camps and other facilities around the country while their parents were charged with immigration offenses. That left leaders scrambling Wednesday to ensure rank-and file lawmakers that Trump would stick with them. Those measures could pass the House backed by Democrats and a few Republicans, an outcome that would enrage conservative voters.

Lawmakers on the tour in McAllen said they believed border agents were handling the situation as well as could be expected at the facility for immigrants recently apprehended along the border. It did so by eliminating the 20-day cap on holding minors and allowing indefinite detentions. In the past, the agency says, many parents elected to be deported without their children.

Koepka could use more wins, but his trophies are big
Unable to defend his title over the weekend, he called Koepka to give him advice on how to win the tournament. But he stumbled on the back stretch, bogeying 11 and 12 and falling as far as four strokes off the lead.
