Deschamps: Griezmann has to do more

The French team was given a controversial penalty kick, eventually converted by Griezmann in the 58th minute, after the referee watched the replay of a foul on the sideline.

Antoine Griezmann's performance and substitution in France's narrow 2-1 win over Australia has sparked criticism, and his coach Didier Deschamps has declared he expects more from his forward.

After reviewing the footage pitchside for little more than 30 seconds, Cunha overturned his original decision and awarded France a penalty, much to the fury of the Australian players.

Remarkably, a previously bad game exploded into life when Australia promptly went down the other end and won a penalty of their own - scored by Mile Jedinak.

Let's be clear: It's the most predatory economic government that operates against the rest of the world today. It follows last Friday's decision to to impose 25% tariffs on $50bn of Chinese products.

However, Paul Pogba eventually managed to snatch the late victor for France when he smashed his 10th global goal in the 80th minute to put the French side in lead again.

France launch their latest World Cup campaign against Australia on Saturday. The tally was confirmed by goal-line technology.

The 27-year-old Griezmann has scored 21 global goals, including five during France's run to the Euro 2016 final.

Mbappe is set to play a starring role for France at the World Cup after an impressive debut season for PSG, in which he scored 21 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions. "When the referee went to see the video, I thought it was a penalty".

A penalty each for Antoine Griezmann and Mile Jedinak had the scores locked at 1-1 before Manchester United star Paul Pogba managed to score the victor. He was 10 months younger than Bruno Bellone, who played at the 1982 World Cup in Spain.

"We can't do without him", Deschamps had said during the build-up to the Russian Federation showpiece.

"First of all, I felt the contact and for me it was a penalty", man of the match Griezmann told reporters. The French tactician fielded an inexperienced starting XI, which would have been better suited to playing a less physical side than Australia and took too long to add some experienced heads as substitutes.

In Brazil four years ago, France became the first team in World Cup history to be awarded a goal using goal-line technology and they again had it to thank in Russian Federation.

The suspect then tried to carjack another vehicle in the parking lot when they were approached by two armed civilians. It was not clear if there were casualties, although reports on social media indicate people have been hurt.

"It was important to start with a win but we know there are a lot of things to improve, we struggled to find each other during the game".
