Tumwater shooting: Multiple people gunned down at Walmart in Washington state

A 16-year-old girl was injured in the carjacking attempt.

Police say the suspect then left the store and tried a second carjacking, in the parking lot, shooting an adult male occupant of the vehicle in the process.

Pacific Time in the town just south of Olympia when they received a call about a possibly drunken driver heading the wrong way on a main road near a local high school, said Laura Wohl, Tumwater police public information officer. "(The suspect) hijacks a auto apparently to get here, then hijacks another vehicle. It also was not clear whether shots were fired inside the store, she said. On Sunday, a gunman shot a man outside a Walmart in Washington State and wounded a teenager during a carjacking before being fatally shot to death by a bystander.

While police were searching for the suspect, they believe the suspect shot a man while attempting to carjack him in the parking lot of the Walmart.

The suspect then tried to carjack another vehicle in the parking lot when they were approached by two armed civilians.

Police said there is no danger to the public.

It was not clear if there were casualties, although reports on social media indicate people have been hurt.

The action inside the store set off fears of a possible mass shooting.

Megan Chadwick, told KIRO-TV that her husband witnessed the bystander shoot the suspect.

He said a civilian with a gun confronted the gunman as he neared the civilian's family.

Adams said he then saw a father with his family take out his concealed weapon and shoot the gunman dead.

"All of a sudden, you hear this pop or a crash sound".

According to a police spokesperson, the call began as a DUI suspect call.

"There were three civilians going after him to shoot him and two of them had their guns up and then the third guy shot him through the window of the vehicle", she said.
