Melania Trump 'hates' to see families separated at USA border

President Trump has consistently blamed Democrats for the situation, saying their support for passage of a broader immigration bill would end the separations.

'Congress passed the law that it is a crime to enter this country illegally. "Instead they were separated from their children & have received no update on their children since being detained". It is bad: at least 2,000 children ripped from their parents' arms, sometimes literally, in just the first six weeks.

The events came as news stories highlighting the family separations intensified political pressure on the White House, even from some of President Donald Trump's fellow Republicans.

Health and Human Services blames Congress, saying its inability to pass legislation on border security "created perverse and risky incentives for illegal border crossings and child smuggling".

The debate surrounding immigration policy has intensified in recent weeks since the Trump administration announced its "zero tolerance" policy for illegal border crossings. "I will tell you that nobody likes this policy". "If you don't like that, then don't smuggle children over our border", Sessions said. "He's just not gonna kick the can down the road", he said.

"This isn't really a Republican or Democratic issue".

The proposed fix won approval from moderate House Republicans locked in hard re-election battles, but not from Republican Senate candidates running competitive races in GOP-leaning states.

Screening every day from the World Cup, the show will give viewers unprecedented access from inside the team base camp. Gerrard said: "I think the treatment of Raheem has been slightly over the top".

As a result, families who crossed together illegally would in some cases be separated, he said.

"I'd like to say it's un-American, but it's happening right now in America". Last week, White House adviser Stephen Miller appeared to characterize the ongoing separations as a "simple decision" by the Trump administration to combat unauthorized border crossings.

He warned that Republicans "will lose the House and Trump will be impeached" if the House backs the new measure, according to Iowa Rep. Steve King, an immigration hard-liner who was in attendance.

Asked whether the President was willing to end the policy, she said: "The president is ready to get meaningful immigration reform across the board".

Since the policy was enacted both Democrats and Republicans have spoken out against Trump and his administration.

Sessions has repeatedly touted the policy and it's necessity in appearance around the country and in interviews.

Democrats have introduced legislation to force Trump's hand. When she reached the Texas border with her 11-year-old son in May, he was taken from her by border agents, she said. The Democrats forced that law upon our nation'. A new Trump administration policy, which went into effect in May, sought to maximize criminal prosecutions of people caught trying to enter the US illegally.

"It's hard for me to enjoy Father's Day knowing what's happening to other children and families", he said.

"We're making progress, but we still need Republicans to join", she wrote on Twitter.

Passage of the bill could alienate conservatives and depress turnout at a time when enthusiasm among Democrats is high.

Conway, meanwhile, claimed Democratic lawmakers are holding up funding that would allow the expansion of family detention centers.

Kraft, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, said colleagues who were alarmed by what was going on at the border invited her to see for herself, so she visited a shelter run by the Office of Refugee Resettlement.

Ms Conway, however, put the onus on Democrats, saying if they were serious about overhauling the system, "they'll come together again and try to close these loopholes and get real immigration reform".
