Kawhi Leonard Wants Out and the Sixers are on the Clock

After months of speculation over his status and standing with the team, it now appears that Kawhi Leonard wants out of San Antonio.

Since Leonard has a year left on his deal, the Spurs do still have say on where he will be playing next season.

NBA trade rumors: Spurs' Kawhi Leonard wants out of San Antonio

According to Yahoo Basketball insider Shams Charania and ESPN Basketball insider Adrian Woj, Kawhi Leonard is looking to move on to another chapter in his life by asking for a trade from the Spurs. He is eligible to receive a five-year $219 million contract extension from the Spurs this summer.

According to Haynes, the 2013-14 NBA Finals MVP now has his eyes set on going back home to Southern California to preferably play for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Leonard is under contract for about $20.1 million next season and has a player's option for $21.3 million the following season. Leonard is better than Irving, so perhaps it's time for the Suns to strike now, when they're armed with assets and an opportunity to trade for a transcendent player.

Thus, everyone has been dreaming up their own Kawhi Leonard trade scenario with the Los Angeles Lakers. If the reports are indeed true, the request makes for perhaps the biggest drama the Spurs franchise has seen in more than two decades.

"Philadelphia will need to rely on coach Brett Brown and his relationship with Leonard from his days as an assistant in San Antonio".

The Spurs may want Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Josh Hart - as well as the Lakers' first-round pick (which came from the Cavs). Frank Ntilikina has some value, as well as their 9th overall pick in this years draft, but its not likely that anything happens there. But Popovich and Leonard have reached out to each other on numerous occasions in recent weeks.

Unlike the Sixers, the Cavs will have no qualms about moving Love and if the 8th pick brings in Leonard, which should help them re-sign LeBron James, they'll move without hesitation.
