Badger Creek Fire Grows Rapidly

Around 11 a.m Tuesday morning, Summit County Fire & EMS reported a wildfire burning on Buffalo Mountain.

After the Badger Creek Fire blew across a state highway and doubled in size yesterday, authorities have ordered a Type II team to jump on the wildfire. But the fire came within about 200 yards of a subdivision that includes condominiums, apartments and pricey homes.

The move comes as the residents of over 2,000 homes have been forced to evacuate because of the 416 Fire that started June 1 in the forest that has burned about 31 square miles.
