'I have already won': Rebel Wilson confident ahead of Bauer appeal decision

The Court of Appeal handed down its judgment in Melbourne on Thursday and Wilson was not present in court for the ruling.

In June a year ago a six-person jury found in favour of Wilson's claim against the publisher of Woman's Day and the Australian Women's Weekly.

Victorian Supreme Court Justice John Dixon subsequently awarded Wilson $650,000 in general damages and $3.97 million in special damages, saying the defamation was "unprecedented in this country" and warranted "a substantial damages award to vindicate her and nail the lie".

The Sydney-born actress told the trial she was sacked from DreamWorks animated feature films "Trolls" and "Kung Fu Panda 3" following the stories.

It found the previous judge had relied on evidence from Wilson and two Hollywood agents to conclude the star had lost job opportunities.

"The Court of Appeal held that, for a considerable number of reasons, the critical inferences drawn by the judge could not be upheld", the summary of judgement said.

At the time, Wilson tweeted she would be donating the money to Australian charities and supporting the Australian film industry with the money.

Bauer Media did not challenge the jury's defamation finding in its appeal and sought only for the damages to be reduced. The legal process has run its course and Bauer welcomes the court's decision to set aside the entire award of damages for economic loss.

That sum would have been the largest defamation payment ever ordered by an Australian court.

In other post, she wrote: 'The Court of Appeal in Australia will be handing down their decision in the morning re my defamation case against As I've said before, I have already WON the case and this is UNCHALLENGED!'
