IHOP reveals mystery behind ‘IHOb’: International House of Burgers

The move sent pancake breakfast lovers into a furore and sparked snarky broadsides from rivals already deeply rooted in the hamburger business.

When asked if Wendy's was going to let IHOb sell burgers on their block, they responded: "Not really afraid of the burgers from a place that decided pancakes were too hard". The company encouraged customers to guess what the "b" would stand for, but not many were guessing burgers.

According to Forbes.com, sales for the restaurant chain were flat from 2015-2017, so this is likely a way for the company to try and revitalize its sales.

The International House of Pancakes, aka IHOP, tricked the internet into talking about it Monday after revealing a temporary name change to IHOB - "b" for burgers.

Search teams find body of woman attacked by alligator in Florida

"The whole goal of this effort was to convince people that we were just as serious about our burgers as we are about our pancakes, ' Haley said".

As if the United States needed more fastfood burger restaurants. "The IHOP Culinary team took the creation of these Steakburgers as seriously as we take innovation around our pancakes, which means they're soon to become world famous, too". So naturally, we rounded up a few of our favorite Twitter reactions to the IHOB fiasco... But most fans figured out it was just a way to get people talking.

How permanent is the name change?

IHOb is introducing the burgers with combos starting at $6.99 at participating locations.

Rebelez said that the restaurant chain is "growing like crazy" and that it soon will be worldwide.

Still, it's worth wondering why IHOP is going through all this trouble.

IHOP owner Dine Brands is also the parent company of Applebee's.

The rollout on social media, where much of the interest appeared, did not go smoothly.
