Marcelo opens the door to Neymar and sends Ronaldo a message

Ronaldo reportedly knocked back a new €25million-a-year deal to stay put when Real held talks with his representatives earlier this week, even though the contract had the option to rise to €30million-a-year depending on performances. He had said: "it was very nice to be at Real Madrid".

Real Madrid themselves appear to be playing hardball, and President Florentino Perez maintains that Ronaldo is under contract for another three years and will therefore will remain in the Spanish capital for the foreseeable future.

The clause was included to ensure Neymar, 26, would stay at PSG for at least 18 months after his world-record £198m move from Barcelona.

The Real Madrid all-time top scorer later attempted to clarify his comments, but only tangled the web further, saying: "I can not guarantee that I will stay at Real Madrid, but this is not the moment to talk, as Madrid have made history, but neither am I going to hide".
