Capitals win first Stanley Cup

Capitals win first Stanley Cup

Another is finally realized.

Lars Eller scored the tiebreaking goal with 7:37 to play, and the Capitals raised the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history after a 4-3 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 5 on Thursday night.

Because it's only fitting that as Rocket Richard's name is removed from the Stanley Cup to make way for the next generation of champions, the NHL's greatest scorer since Richard will be etched into a fresh band.

Alex Ovechkin can breathe easy. He's answered his critics, who said he lacked heart and the leadership skills to win it all.

Ovechkin was voted victor of the 2018 Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

This has been a tough series, mostly because we think we know this Capitals team because we've seen them in the playoffs so many times. We worked so hard through all the years and we were together.

A Sentosa Summit: Resort island gazetted for upcoming Trump-Kim meeting
But the prospect for a meeting reemerged last week, following a flurry of diplomatic activity between the US and North Korea. He said he does not expect his words to hurt the North Korean leadership so much that they walk out from the summit.

Washington's captain netted a franchise-record 15 goals in the playoffs, including a pretty one-timer on a power-play in Game 5.

"My dad, he doesn't remember a lot of stuff these days", Oshie said. "Getting to score the game victor", said Eller.

"That's your leader, that's what you want him to do". I was personally very low on him this season since he gave up over three goals per game, but has looked elite in the playoffs.

But the Golden Knights, with the enthusiasm of a motley crew of veterans and young players and powered by an offence that relied heavily on speed and relentless puck pressure, had their own ideas. We can finally say: "Best fans in the world, best hockey team in the world". Vegas entertainers got a kick out of that decision, believe it. No one had even expected a playoff appearance. They beat an expansion team in the Cup Finals in its inaugural season. If Vegas holds on, Game 6 in Washington will be Sunday night.

"I can't explain the way I feel".

According to oddsmakers, the Golden Knights are a -145 favorite on the moneyline.

Uhuru mourns plane crash victims, promises government help
It was enroute to Nairobi from Kitale on Tuesday and was scheduled to land at 5:20pm, the same time that it went off the radar. On board were the pilot, Captain Barbra Wangeci Kamau , and First Officer and co-pilot Jean Mureithi .

The Capitals were down 3-2 to the Lightning in the Eastern finals, but Holtby became a star again. "We have to concentrate, and we have to play our best to get it done".

The Golden Knights responded a little more than three minutes later when Nate Schmidt's shot from the point redirected off Capitals defense man Matt Niskanen's skate and into the net. I don't know where he's at, but this one will stick with him forever.

The Knights came close to stretching that advantage early in the third, but Holtby came up with some big stops to keep his team within one inside a raucous T-Mobile Arena. All those titles fit in ways we couldn't have imagined when the Vegas Golden Knights opened in October as the city's first major-league team. I think it's pressure on both teams the same way.

"Fleury was so far out, I know I was going to go to the rebound but he was so far out I couldn't get in front of him which is usually where the rebound comes", Eller said.

Kuznetsov, who finished the regular season with 27 goals and 56 assists, scored 12 goals and had 20 assists in the postseason.

Andre Burakovsky gathered the puck and sent it up to Brett Connolly in the high slot. This is their first 3-1 lead at any point in this year's postseason, and any amount of success from Vegas is sure to inspire just the slightest bit of doubt. "We went through so much every series.

Kim summit is set for Sentosa Island
The White House this week confirmed the summit between Trump and Kim would be held on Singapore's southern island of Sentosa. It also houses the luxurious Capella Hotel, which - at a distance from centres of population - can be more easily secured.

It's nice to be part of it", Ovechkin said.
