Instagram could start allowing users post hour-long videos

For some time now, Facebook has been trying to grow its "Watch" section with original video content and keep its users on its platform instead of them leaving for YouTube. The service has been working on a feature that would allow users to post vertical videos up to an hour length, according to the report. But as Facebook pivots to long-form video content with Facebook Watch, it makes sense that its other properties would follow suit.

The Facebook-owned photo- and video-sharing app is readying a new feature that will let users post long-form video, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. At present, Instagram Stories are limited to a length of 15 seconds with videos in the main feed capped at 60 seconds. The social network has reportedly had recent rounds of conversations with content creators and publishers about making long-form video for the platform when the new feature launches.
