IHOP announces it's changing its name

IHOP's Twitter account is all abuzz with guesses about what it may be.

After 60 years, IHOP is literally flipping its name to IHOb.

The announcement has many guessing what the "B" could stand for, ranging from bacon to breakfast and even burritos.

IHOP, which stands for International House of Pancakes, was founded in 1958, so to change the name after 60 years is a pretty big deal!

The company's Executive Director of Communications says the name change has to do with IHOP's focus on the quality of food and menu.

The company says it will reveal the answer on Monday June 11th. In 1973, the company made a decision to shorten the name to IHOP. Some guessed at what the acronym "IHOb" stood for, while others took the opportunity to complain.

Fret not, pancake fans - regardless of their name, the restaurant promises to always deliver on pancakes. This move followed a trend from the year prior, in which Dine Brands Global shut down 23 IHOP restaurants.
