Arsenal interested in Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini could be on his way to Arsenal in a shock free transfer.

The player's contract at Old Trafford is set to expire on 1 July, and that means he's free to discuss terms on a move elsewhere.

Now reports in Belgium and England are suggesting Fellaini's advisers have held talks with Arsenal, with new Gunners boss Unai Emery believed to be keen to add the experienced Premier League performer to his ranks.

The announcement has many guessing what the "B" could stand for, ranging from bacon to breakfast and even burritos. This move followed a trend from the year prior , in which Dine Brands Global shut down 23 IHOP restaurants.

Fellaini's wage demands have been a major stumbling block in negotiations, despite Jose Mourinho's eagerness to keep the Belgium global, and Man United are unwilling to fulfil them, meaning he's likely to become a free agent on July 1.

Foot 365 and RFI Radio Foot journalist Patrick Juliard (h/t The Express) claims that the former Everton man will meet the Gunners representatives this week.

It isn't clear yet whether Arsenal will be able to agree a deal with the experienced midfielder, and any decision is likely to wait until after the World Cup.

The Belgium worldwide is edging towards leaving Old Trafford after strong interest from the north Londoners.

Fellaini is thought to be looking for a big upgrade on his current £80,000-a-week deal, but Manchester United are unwilling to match the midfielder's demands so far despite being a favourite of Jose Mourinho.
