No Man's Sky Xbox One release set for July, bringing multiplayer

On July 24th, No Man's Sky will hit the Xbox One with all of the previously released updates and one massive new feature: Multiplayer.

Xbox One players can expect No Man's Sky and its major expansion, NEXT, from 24 July.

Although there is no gameplay footage just yet, we will probably get to see the multiplayer in action as we get closer to the update's release. Players were furious and it was one of many "lies" that led to the game's downfall and negative reception.

Murray describes No Man's Sky's multiplayer experience as "fun, funny, emergent, and kind of intense".

The next update was described as the biggest update so far for No Man's Sky's back in March with a teaser. "I'm so happy this is finally happening", said Hello Games Founder Sean Murray. "This will be our biggest update yet and we're pumped to be bringing Xbox players along on the journey with us now too".

When No Man's Sky originally released on PS4, its Collector's Edition in the United Kingdom featured a logo advertising multiplayer gameplay, which was covered up by a simple sticker.

505 Games will distribute the physical Xbox One version worldwide. While on an Xbox show, the update will more than likely be coming to the PS4 and PC at or around that date as well.

In terms of specific multiplayer features, you can look forward to co-operative exploration, shared bases, dogfights and race vehicles. If it's anything like previous No Man's Sky patches, there will be more.
