Microsoft formally announce the Xbox Adaptive Controller

Microsoft has worked with various charities and community groups, as well as disabled gamers, when designing to the controller to come up with the ideal design to help open up gaming to even more people. Microsoft worked with many organizations around the world in order to make this controller a reality for many disabled people across the globe. We couldn't be prouder to have their support in introducing the Xbox Adaptive Controller. As suspected, it has remappable buttons and a series of 3.5mm jacks that will support a range of accessible controller options.

Microsoft has now announced the Xbox Adaptive Controller today that allows many people with disabilities to play video games.

The controller has been worked on with assistance from AbleGamers, Warfighter Engaged, SpecialEffect, Craig Hospital and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Our goal was to make the device as adaptable as possible so that players can create a configuration that works for them in a way that is plug-and-play, extensible and affordable. These inputs include PDP's One-Handed Joystick for the Xbox Adaptive Controller, Logitech's Extreme 3D Pro Joystick, and Quadstick's Game Controller. While this design is one that looks to cater to accessibility, the Xbox Elite Controller, also known by the codename "Spider" according to sources, will also offer a few improvements on the standard Xbox One controller.

The kicker for such a good looking device is the price - at 4199 yuan (AU$875) it is more expensive than the non Avengers phone . The phone has same specifications and comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage that we found in high-end variant of OnePlus 6 .

Except for the price, Microsoft did not reveal much about the new controller but the company promises that the device will be launching this year with no mention of exact dates and availability.

Microsoft says that the device came together with advice from gamers as well as accessibility advocates, and with efforts at hackathons that it held in 2015 and 2016.
