Jared Kushner Was 'Agitated, Infuriated' At Meeting With Russians Focused On Adoptions

It should also be noted that even outside the Senate, Mueller's is not the only investigation into potential crimes by Trump and his campaign.

The Senate Judiciary Committee released thousands of pages of interviews Wednesday conducted with many participants at the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting, providing the deepest look yet at the meeting where Donald Trump Jr. was promised "dirt" on Hillary Clinton.

"The Russian effort was extensive, sophisticated and ordered by (Russian) President Putin himself for the goal of helping Donald Trump and hurting Hillary Clinton", Warner said.

"Committee staff have spent 14 months reviewing the sources, tradecraft, and analytic work, and we see no reason to dispute the conclusions", said Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr, D-N.C., in a statement.

Dr Michael McFaul, who was the U.S. ambassador to Russian Federation at the time of Mr Trump's visit, said some visiting American businessmen worked with the embassy to arrange meetings there, but that Mr Trump did not.

In addition, the transcripts reflect an aggressive Russian outreach to Trump both before and after the June 2016 meeting, including an effort to arrange a follow-up get-together that November with members of his transition team.

If there's a single big takeaway from the almost 2,000 pages of transcripts of interviews with Donald Trump Jr. and others by congressional investigators, it's that Trump Jr. never thought twice about meeting with people tied to Russian Federation promising dirt on his father's political opponent.

Indeed, rather than being puzzled and disinterested by the meeting, as Kushner had suggested, Goldstone described the husband of Ivanka Trump as being animated by what he heard from Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. It is one of several inquiries that make up the committee's ongoing investigation into Russian election meddling.

Though the witnesses were not under oath, they were nonetheless required to tell Congress the truth.

Trump Jr. told lawmakers he did not recall telling his father about the meeting, and Robert Goldstone, a British publicist who arranged the meeting, told the committee he expected to find a "smoking gun" on Clinton during the meeting with Veselnitskaya.

Kushner did provide the panel with a 12-page statement, also released by Grassley. They did not interview Kushner or Trump campaign Chairman Paul Manafort, and did not issue subpoenas for documents or testimony to Trump Jr., as Democrats had urged.

We've known Manafort took notes during the meeting, and now we know what they said.

Russian Federation has denied seeking to interfere in the election and Trump has disputed suggestions that Moscow was working on his behalf.

Last July, when the New York Times published a report about the meeting, a statement was crafted aboard Air Force One as the president returned from Germany. As President Trump has said repeatedly - there was no collusion.

Barcelona unbeaten run ends after 36 games
Barca pulled one back through a Phillipe Coutinho 38th minute strike, the goal was well assisted by Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez. Despite winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey , there have been some significant disappointments late in the campaign.

Top committee Democrat Senator Mark Warner added that "the Russian effort was extensive, sophisticated, and ordered by President Putin himself for the objective of helping Donald Trump and hurting Hillary Clinton". Susan Collins, R-Maine, said it was "very clear that the goal of the Russian interference was to try to undermine confidence in our Democratic institutions - and that's why western democracies in general have been targeted by the Russians", she said. "I never spoke to my father about it".

And people who attended the meeting generally agreed that it didn't include the transmission of damaging information. On June 3, 2016, Emin Agalarov, a Russian pop singer whom Goldstone represented, called up Goldstone and asked him to "contact the Trumps" and set up a meeting with a "connected" Russian attorney, who had just passed "some interesting information" to his father, Aras Agalarov, a Russian billionaire with ties to the Kremlin.

"I also firmly believe that this effort is not over. I don't know about phone calls, I don't know who called who, that's why we got Mueller", said Sen.

The first try occurred when Trump went to Russian Federation for the Miss Universe pageant in 2013.

"I have no idea", Trump Jr. said when asked who had called. In May 2015, the month before Trump declared his candidacy for the presidency, Goldstone brought Emin Agalarov to see the businessman in NY, where the men posed for photos. Days earlier, according to an email released by the committee, Goldstone wrote in an email that Trump lawyers were anxious about how disclosures about it would look. "I totally understand re Moscow - unless maybe he would welcome a meeting with President Putin which Emin would set up", he wrote on July 24, 2015. "So am painted as some mysterious link to Putin".

It was unclear whether Mr Agalarov delivered the letter to Mr Putin or whether Mr Putin responded.
