PSG have appointed new coach

Paris Saint-Germain have turned to the uncompromising German coach Thomas Tuchel to finally boost the club's Champions League record after years of relative failure.

This season, PSG were eliminated by Real Madrid in the last-16 of the competition.

Tuchel was a free agent after leaving Borussia Dortmund a year ago, despite leading the team to victory in last season's German Cup.

She underwent the surgery at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre in Bethesda on Monday, New York Post reported. Grisham, who has visited the first lady, later told CBS that the first lady is "doing very well" and is in "good spirits".

"It is with great joy, pride and ambition that I join this great world football club that is Paris St-Germain", said Tuchel.

'I look forward to working with all these great players, who are among the best on the planet. There is extraordinary potential at PSG and it is the most exciting challenge I've had presented to me.

Tuchel, who replaced Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp at both Mainz in 2009 and Dortmund in 2015, reportedly turned down an offer to replace Jupp Heynckes at Bayern Dortmund this summer.

That disappointment in Europe, following a humiliating loss against Barcelona at the same stage a year ago, meant there was no chance of Emery's two-year contract being renewed at the end of this campaign.

They have, however, achieved a domestic treble by winning the Ligue 1 title as well as the League and French Cups. "He has the mix of spectacular and effective principles that have always been the true strength of German football".

While few are certain as to how Tuchel will adapt PSG's game, club president and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi is extremely happy to have snared his signature.

Whoever is PSG's coach in the future, it will all be about winning the Champions League.

The Ligue 1 champions have failed to go past the quarter-finals of the Champions League since big-spending Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) took over in June, 2011. He can coach, but also has good man-management skills, which will be needed with the big names in the PSG squad.
