MIKE POMPEO: If North Korea takes bold action to quickly denuclearize, the United States is prepared to work with North Korea to achieve prosperity on the par with our South Korean friends.

The top diplomats from the United States and South Korea meet Friday to lay the groundwork for a summit they hope will prove a historic chance to end North Korea's nuclear menace.

She said the United States troop presence in the South for the past 65 years has played a "crucial role for deterrence", peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.

Speculation has emerged that Trump may visit Japan to brief Abe about the outcome of his meeting with Kim in Singapore.

Last month, the North Korean leader met with South Korean President Moon-Jae-in.
