Margot Kidder, Star of 'Superman', Dead at Age 69

Margot Kidder, best known for her role as Lois Lane in the "Superman" films of the 1970s and 80s, has died. Kidder was born in Yellowknife because of her father's job, which required the family to live in remote locations.

Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder. Joan Alexander and Noel Neill were among the early Lanes, whose coltish spirit often landed them in trouble with enemy agents and other foes bent on destroying the American way of life.

"I read books", she told The Montana Standard in 2016, "and hung out with friends in the woods or at the hockey rink".

Kidder previously echoed that sentiment in a 1996 interview with People, where she said, "I just have to accept the fact that this is me, or I ain't gonna make it".

And you could argue that this is the best chance all three will get to add more glowing strokes to their respective legacies. They anticipated correctly that their star power and healthy roster could handle a team constructed mainly to beat them.

After her success with "Superman" in 1978, Kidder found steady work in television and onstage, but struggled with finances following three marriages and costly medical bills.

Kidder was taken by the Los Angeles police to a hospital and then was placed in psychiatric care. The cause of death was not released.

Sad news for lovers of superhero cinema, as it has been announced that Margot Kidder, star of the original Superman, has died. The next year, she appeared on Broadway in "The Vagina Monologues" and toured with the show for two years.

She was politically active in her later years and was arrested outside the White House in 2011, where she was protesting the Iraq War.

"I guess she will always be known for Lois Lane; she will be known for the most popular film she was in".

It's hard to know what Kidder might have become in a more meritocratic version of Hollywood - one that would better appreciate her talents, providing her with more roles, more security, and less stress. "Gone at the age of 69, she was very open about her battle with bipolar disease". "She was charming and very amusing".

In 2015, Kidder won an Emmy Award for her role in R.L. Stine's "The Haunting Hour".

Margot was married three times, but sources claim she had been single since the late 1980s. It wasn't until she was forced into therapy that she was able to get a handle on her health. Her first film was the Norman Jewison comedy "Gaily, Gaily" in 1969. They posted a memorial to her on Monday, saying, "May you always be surrounded by dogs".

Without Thierry Fremaux saying yes to the pledge, without saying yes to the stairs, we wouldn't be here. The attendees broke into a rendition of "Happy Birthday" for the Hollywood actress after the signing.
