Dragon float catches on fire during Disney's Magic Kingdom parade

Terrified onlookers watched on as the float, representing the character Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, went up in flames.

A fire-breathing dragon float caught fire at Orlando's Disney World on Friday.

During today's performance, the entire head of the dragon caught on fire in the Liberty Square section of the parade, but was fully extinguished. Later, parts of its head piece appear to flake off and fall to the street.

The float was part of the theme park's "Festival of Fantasy".

Cast members shooed parade attendees away from the malfunctioning float, which continued to lift its head up and down as its head was engulfed in flames.

No one was hurt and workers put out the flames quickly, according to Fox 13.

A handful of photos and videos posted on social media show just how insane the whole incident looked to visitors in the kingdom. An employee is usually stationed inside the mechanical dragon, sitting near the base of the neck, but no one was injured in the incident.
