Exit polls give BJP clear edge over Congress in Karnataka

The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) chief-ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa, too, dismissed the exit polls and insisted that his party would get 125 to 130 seats - more than the magic number of 113 seats in the 224-member assembly to rule the state.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday dropped a huge hint on Congress' possible alliance with Janata Dal (Secular) if there's a split verdict in the recently held Karnataka Assembly elections. Earlier in the day, while BJP's CM candidate Yeddyurappa claimed that his party will bag over 125 seats, incumbent CM Siddaramaiah termed the exit polls a mere "weekend entertainment". While pollsters continue to point towards a hung Assembly in the state with the BJP emerging as the single largest party, followed by the Congress, Siddaramaiah remains unperturbed. Also, some said that the exit polls aren't true and the truth will come out on Tuesday when the election commission will count the voting and tell the result to the whole nation. "And finally, to all the workers of the Congress party - I am indebted to you for all your efforts", chief minister Siddaramaiah said in a tweet. He said Gandhi will naturally have to work on those areas, both to protect the MLAs they already have and to win fresh territory for the Congress.
