De Lille still calls herself 'the mayor' in court challenge

"Patricia de Lille is no longer the mayor of Cape Town because she is no longer a member of the DA", the deputy chairperson of the Democratic Alliance's federal executive, Natasha Mazzone, told AFP.

"I will also lodge a formal complaint against the named DA members with the FLC", she said in a tweet.

We are busy compiling a list of people that have posted this fraudulent report, supposedly from the Auditor General, once we have got the full list, I will then make the list public.

Natasha Mazzone, the DA's deputy federal chairwoman, said in a statement that it was "no secret that the DA has suffered immeasurable damage" over the De Lille affair.

Although she survived a motion of no confidence earlier in February, her position was shook when an internal motion of no confidence took place in April, where the party voted to recall her as mayor.

Cavs cruise, complete sweep of top-seeded Raptors
Kevin Love scored 23 points to help fourth-seeded Cleveland reach the Eastern Conference finals for the fourth straight campaign. All five Raptors starters and four of the Cavs starters watched from the bench in the final quarter, the outcome never in doubt.

After the congress the party was at pains to emphasise that the clause would not be applied retrospectively and that the rule was not about De Lille, but would "in future help us to ensure that leaders have the confidence of their caucus".

The mayor of Cape Town, South Africa's second largest city, was ousted by her own party on Tuesday after her administration came under fire over mismanagement and alleged corruption.

"As you know, despite my right to privacy, I have asked for those allegations to be tested in a hearing that is fully open to the public and the media".

It "states a member ceases to be a member of the party when he or she publicly declares his or her intention to resign and/or publicly declares his or her resignation from the party".

The main reason for the steps comes after her interview on Radio 702/567 with Eusebius McKaiser last month, where she allegedly said that she will resign.

Malaysia goes to polls today
A simple majority of 112 seats is required by a party or alliance to rule, a number Mahathir said his party believed it had won. And the novel move of holding the election on a Wednesday is created to depress turnout and make the opposition's task harder.

"I have been made aware that the deputy mayor [Ian Neilson] has already held meetings with the staff in my office", said De Lille.

In it, she told McKaiser that she would walk away from the DA, saying the writing was on the wall.

"More importantly, this fake letter has never been used as the basis for any disciplinary matter between Patricia de Lille and the party".

The DA meanwhile, also clarified that the shared document was indeed not official content and had never been shared on the party's social media platforms.

However, while this was happening, De Lille's lawyers were busy serving and filing court papers.
