Volvo plans to embed Google services in next-generation infotainment system

The experience runs on a slightly older version of Android, 7.0, and is skinned to still look like a Volvo entertainment system.

Now, after a developer preview that saw over 100,000 SDK downloads by developers, Google is releasing Android Things 1.0 with "long-term support for production devices". It also supports Google technologies like Google Assistant and Google Cast.

The partnership between Google and Volvo should make the Assistant features in particular be baked deeper into the car's OS than you would get with Android Auto.
