Judge rules sexual assault trial jury can hear Bill Cosby's quaaludes testimony

On Monday, Constand rejected defense allegations that she concocted her story to score a big payday, and her mother testified that Cosby apologized in a phone call and called himself a "sick man".

The defense plans to call Jackson as a witness and says she will testify that before Constand lodged her allegations against Cosby in 2005, Constand had mused to her about setting up a "high-profile person" and filing suit.

Castor ended the investigation into Cosby four weeks after Andrea Constand told police the comedian had drugged and molested her about a year earlier. He says she consented to a sexual encounter.

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Constand and the other women have done.

A woman says Bill Cosby described in graphic detail his sexual encounter with her daughter and then apologized. She recounted the same thing 10 months ago in a trial that ended in a hung jury. They argued to the court, the statements are irrelevant because there is no evidence Cosby gave Constand the now-banned drug. However, she has since modified her statement, saying she "recalls a Margo". He says it was consensual. According to police, Cosby told them he gave Constand Benadryl to help her relax.

In the deposition, Cosby graphically described this alleged sexual encounter. Cosby has denied the allegations. She also alleged that Andrea Constand was close to losing her job at Temple due to poor performance and that the university was pursuing collections for money owed by her, which Gianna Constand said she didn't know about either.

First trial: The defense didn't ask Constand about emails she had sent that promised big returns for a risk-free $65 investment - what the defense at the second trial has called a "Ponzi scheme".

Constand was more confident and composed as she told jurors about the night in question.

"He said to me, 'Don't worry, Mom, there was no penile penetration, '" Gianna Constand testified.

The lawyer also questioned Constand about her job at Temple and whether she had complained about the pay and tried to make additional money through other sources.

She said Cosby invited her to Lake Tahoe after an initial meeting at his New York City townhouse, where he had given her an acting manual.

Constand was the director of women's basketball operations at Temple University in Philadelphia when she met Cosby, a powerful alumnus and member of the board of trustees.

Constand has testified that she saw the former TV star as a mentor and had previously rejected his advances.

Prosecutors have called to the stand five other women who said Cosby drugged and assaulted them, too.

The panel also heard that when the then-68-year-old Cosby was asked if he had a prescription for Viagra, he said no.

Judge Steven O'Neill disclosed the injury as the retrial resumed Monday.

District Attorney Kevin Steele brought criminal charges in late 2015, days before the statute of limitations for the crimes was due to expire.

Throughout the retrial, several of Cosby's most public accusers have been showcasing their solidarity, whether posing arm in arm on the courthouse steps or lining up early to get public passes to the main courtroom.

Bill Cosby's chief accuser at his sexual-assault trial on Monday denied framing him and said she doesn't know a key witness who plans to testify she spoke of leveling false accusations against a celebrity.

The 80-year-old comedian walked through heavy rain into the suburban Philadelphia courthouse under a large black umbrella held by his spokesman.

Police Sergeant Richard Schaffer read the jury a transcript of a 2005 police interview with Cosby in which he said that he had a consensual sexual encounter with Constand but stopped short of sexual intercourse.

But Mesereau, who's best known for winning Michael Jackson an acquittal in his 2005 child molestation case, was incredulous as Constand denied being aware that Cosby was sexually attracted to her - even after he touched her thigh on one occasion and tried unbuttoning her trousers on another. But when prosecutors asked, as tears were streaming down her face, if Lasha was still scared, she said she was no longer fearful.
