Stephanopoulos Grills Kellyanne Conway on Comey Interview: 'That's Not Correct Either'

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Monday that James Comey "swung" the 2016 presidential election, seemingly meaning President Donald Trump wouldn't have beaten Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton without the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director's controversial actions days before the election.

The comment, on its face, appeared to undercut Trump's statements that his Democratic challenger, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, lost because she was a bad candidate, not because there was any outside interference. When asked about Donald Trump's thoughts on the James Comey interview, Conway responded, "The President thinks that Jim Comey is engaging in revisionist history".

"This guy swung an election", Conway said.

"He loves to divert the spotlight to himself and be the center of power", Conway told CNN's "New Day" Monday morning.

Conway also referred to Comey's admission that he may have subconsciously expected Hillary Clinton to become the next president when he decided 11 days before the election to announce the reopening of an investigation into her emails.

Many online jumped on Conway's comments Monday morning, saying she admitted that "Trump wouldn't have won without the Comey". It's really hard to follow, which is nothing new for those who track Conway.

Comey said that was when Trump asked him to drop the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, which Trump has denied.

"Then you wait an entire year to play Paul Revere?" she asked. "This misleading headline should include an eye roll and question mark", Conway wrote, while attaching an ABC News article with a headline claiming he she attacked Comey for swinging the election.

Conway suggested Comey was actually keeping copious notes for his upcoming book, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership", which hits shelves Tuesday. Scavino even took over Hicks' office after she departed at the end of March, just down the hall from the Oval Office. "He has a very deft way of making things about him".

Comey, in the interview, said Trump is a liar who "talks about and treats women like they're pieces of meat" and may have obstructed justice.
