Manchester City Win Premier League Title After United Flop

José Mourinho said after the 1-0 defeat by bottom-of-the-table West Bromwich Albion that confirmed Manchester City as Premier League champions that he could "smell" a bad performance coming from Manchester United and that it left him questioning his players' attitude.

United had denied their "noisy neighbours" the title last week at the Etihad Stadium after coming from two goals down to win 2-3 in an intense match.

Manchester United will take on relegation favourites West Bromwich Albion tomorrow in what is likely to be a straight-forward game for the Red Devils.

"I am surprised. The quality and experience of some of the players, the stability the squad, I am surprised they find themselves in this position", said Mourinho.

'I saw lots of people on the moon because we won against Manchester City. They are presently on 71 points with five matches remaining.

"During the week I was trying to fight that because I was feeling it".

United's afternoon was symptomatic of their entire season.

United's first loss at home in the league since December handed the title to rivals Manchester City with five games to spare.

"We will keep focusing on two goals from here to the end of the season: keeping the second place and trying to get to the FA Cup final and to win the title". As I was saying: this is a very hard league and all the top-six teams, we knew in advance that two of them would be outside the Champions League positions. I won too much to be happy with just one big victory. We knew that only one of the six would win the title, and we were second for months and months and months, so obviously it's better to be second than third or fourth.

"Everything must be consistent until the last day". "So one of the things we have to improve is consistency".

Ligue 1 Report: Paris Saint-Germain v AS Monaco 15 April 2018
It never looked like being the start of an incredible comeback, even if PSG evidently eased off slightly after the restart. Lopes tapped in Almamy Toure's right-wing cross at the back post to pull one back for Monaco late in the first half .

Pogba looked as if he was going through the motions throughout the first half.

Jake Livermore had one decent effort saved by David De Gea and Lukaku smashed an effort right into Ben Foster's face but that was about it. Then, the Belgian sent a heading attempt at Foster, and he made the save.

Paul Pogba nearly opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the eighth minute with a drive from 25-yards but the Baggies goalkeeper Ben Foster smothered the strike. "After 10 minutes, I turned and there was a weird atmosphere and I could only see West Brom scoring".

The West Brom win wasn't without controversy.
