Liverpool v Bournemouth - story of the match

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp described his sides goalscoring exploits this season as "crazy" following their 3-0 win against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Egypt winger was slightly below par on this occasion by his lofty standards, but a header 21 minutes from time took him to 40 in all competitions in a Reds shirt and 30 in the league, adding to Sadio Mane's first-half strike before Roberto Firmino netted a late third.

Salah reached the landmark after scoring against Bournemouth in the English Premier League, where he is the top scorer with 30 goals in the competition.

Speaking post-match to Sky Sports, he said: "It's all about him and all about us, how we finish the season".

"It's good and impressive - what a number, wow! Ian doesn't look that old", Klopp quipped.

Just days after stunningly knocking Manchester City out of the UEFA Champions League on the back of a final 5-1 result over two legs, Liverpool proved that they had no intention of taking the Premier League for granted.

"They have shown it in the Premier League and the Champions League". We scored one but had chance after chance with really good football against a side full of confidence, good footballers, quick on the counter attack, which makes your life really uncomfortable.

Ian Rush holds the all-time Liverpool record for the most goals scored in a season with 47 in the 1983-84.

Manchester City rebound to beat Tottenham at Wembley
After sweeping through most of the season in regal fashion, City had crashed down to earth with a bump over the last 10 days. A long ball from Kyle Walker saw Gabriel Jesus outpace Davinson Sanchez to race in on goal and finish coolly.

"At half-time we were in the game but their second goal came out of the blue, the ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah's header were unbelievable, we were kicking ourselves really because we always believed we could come back if there was one goal in it. It was the ideal manner to play this game - we kept the ball".

"You could see in the last 10 or 15 minutes how intense it was for the boys".

"It was good that we kept a clean sheet, with the little bit of luck you always need".

Klopp was left hoping the defender's issue was "not too serious" but was unable to provide a more detailed update on the player's fitness, having not spoken to him after the game.
