Police identify three more sets of remains in McArthur investigation

The 66-year-old self-employed landscaper is already facing six first-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of six men with ties to the city's LGBTQ neighbourhood.

McArthur, who appeared wearing an orange jumpsuit, spoke in court only to say his name and acknowledge that he understood the charges against him.

The latest charge has been laid in the death of Abdulbasir Faizi, a 42-year-old married father of two who vanished on December 29 2010.

Idsinga said the remains of all but Mahmudi have been identified among those recovered from the planters at the central Toronto home.

McArthur has also been charged with the murder of Majeed Kayhan, but investigators still don't know whether or not those remains belong to Kayhan.

According to local reports, Faizi's auto was found in early 2011 not far from a midtown Toronto property used by McArthur to store his landscaping supplies. They said they had identified three sets of remains belonging to Andrew Kinsman, Soroush Mahmudi, and Navaratnam.

Police would not comment on the origin of the photo, described by lead investigator Sergeant Hank Idsinga as a "key piece of evidence". "At least one set of remains has yet to be identified and the remains of Majeed Kayhan have not been identified".

The remains of all but Kayhan have now been identified.

Malaysia's general election to take place on May 9: Election Commission
If he does well in the election, it would be the biggest consolidation of his position", he told The Associated Press. According to data from the Election Commission, a total of 14.9 million voters are eligible for voting.

"I'd like to assure people that we'll do whatever we can to protect their privacy", he said. Idsinga said they have been able to obtain "quite a few exhibits" from the property and he expects they will be there for another couple of weeks.

"As a result of tips and help from the public we hope to begin searches of properties associated to Mr. McArthur with our K9 unit", Idsinga said.

Idsinga said the sprawling investigation is now scrutinizing 22 unsolved homicides that took place between 1975 and 1997. The majority of those victims are of gay men.

Idsinga said police plan to investigate at least 70 more properties where McArthur is believed to have worked, adding that the operation may get underway as early as next month.

In his statement, Greitens said he expects the report being released Wednesday night "will include lies and falsehoods". The governor said he had no intention of resigning and planned to continue serving the people of Missouri.

In this artist's sketch, alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur makes an appearance via video in a Toronto courtroom, Wednesday, April 11, 2018.

"They're really not surprised at the end of it", he said. "How far are these names going to come from?" While he said there is no current evidence linking McArthur to the cold cases, he said they fit the general profile of the alleged victims identified to date. The image showed a bearded middle-aged man with his eyes partially closed. Police say McArthur is believed to be responsible for other deaths. Police released a digitally enhanced version of the photograph along with a rendition of what the man may have looked like during the press conference. I don't want to hazard putting a final number on it.

The home's garage has become ground zero for the investigation after police uncovered in some 20 planters the dismembered body parts of several men who went missing from downtown Toronto's Gay Village. The two middle-aged men were reported missing in 2017.

January 29, 2018 - McArthur is charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Mahmudi, Kayhan and Lisowick.
