Behind their new faces, the 2019 Spark, Cruze and Malibu, boast mechanical and technical upgrades, along with their new bumpers.

Beside the new turbocharged lump, we're also expecting the new Cruze to have the latest generation MyLink infotainment system, a new dual cockpit design and a more striking exterior. "The investments we have made in Spark, Cruze and Malibu will help position the brand for success in competitive segments that still make up a significant part of the total industry". A new RS model brings along special styling cues such as a black grille, black bowtie emblem, rear spoiler, 18-inch machined wheels, and dual-exhaust outlet. Other changes to the 2019 Malibu include a standard rearview camera, available LED taillights, and heated rear outboard seats for the top-of-the-line Malibu Premier trim.

For 2019, Chevy is ditching the six-speed automatic that now transmits power from the standard 1.5-liter turbocharged I4, replacing it with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The LT model gets LED lighting which is installed to the headlamps and will have a 2.0-liter turbo engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2019 Malibu is offered in L, LS, RS, LT, Hybrid and Premier trims, all of which feature a newly integrated 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Otherwise, the exterior features new headlights framing a more familial Chevrolet grille, as well as a new fascia design. And the Cruze Hatch is now available in LS trim.

GM says recent introductions of the Cruze Hatch and Diesel models helped push the auto to a 0.6-percent retail market share gain in 2017 and helped Chevrolet secure its third consecutive year of higher overall retail market share. There are some new color and trim options and a new, optional active safety feature: Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking. It goes on sale this fall.
