In a press conference held on May 15, 2013, Kejriwal had alleged conflict of interest on part of Sibal, saying he had appeared in the court for a telecom firm when his father was the communications minister. Now, in a letter, Kejriwal apologized to road, transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari for calling him one of the most corrupt politicians.

In 2013, Gadkari had filed a criminal defamation case against Kejriwal.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the party will apologise to people who they have hurt. "Everything is forgotten now, we will move ahead".

His apology to Majithia had led the AAP's Punjab unit president, Bhagwant Mann, and co-president Aman Arora to put in their papers, and ally Lok Insaaf Party to break ties. This had not gone down well with several senior AAP leaders.

An AAP MLA also voiced the party's fears that the Centre wants to put Kejriwal behind bars so that he is unable to fight elections.
