State police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a silver 2004 or 2005 Chevy Malibu or Impala. Marhkam Police Chief Mack Sanders said the children appeared to be safe and healthy. Police said the children were with Washington when they disappeared and they were dropped off at their grandmother's home in Harvey at approximately 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

Officials issued an Amber Alert Wednesday night after police say the children's mother was found shot to death, and the girls were missing.

Authorities said the children's mother, Lakisha Roby, 27, was killed in a domestic-related shooting at a BP gas station in Markham, and the children were later reported missing, according to a post on the NCMEC group's Facebook page.

They are believed to have been taken by their 40-year-old father Lynn Washington who police say is armed and risky, reported the Chicago Tribune.
