Harry-Meghan wedding gets Queen's official consent

The Queen has finally given her royal blessing for Harry and Meghan to Wednesday.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has given her formal consent for her grandson Prince Harry to marry U.S. actress Meghan Markle, according to a transcript of a meeting with her advisers released on Thursday.

As Harry is (currently) fifth in line for the throne, he's required by law to secure the monarch's permission before wedding anyone.

Judge Jeffrey Remick ordered Monalisa Perez to serve the first 90 days of her sentence in ten-day increments over three years. If the 20-year-old had gone to trial and was found guilty, she could have been looking at up to 10 years behind bars.

Alongside the declaration, which was made public Thursday, the queen signed an Instrument of Consent, a formal notice of approval, transcribed in calligraphy and issued under the Great Seal of the Realm.

Rachel is the name listed on Markle's legal documents, such as her American passport, so that was the name the queen had to use in her formal consent declaration.

But Harry's Los Angeles-born actress fiancee is simply "Rachel Meghan Markle".

The move was a mere formality as the queen had already said in a statement how delighted she was for the couple and she will be attending the wedding ceremony at her Windsor Castle home, to the West of London, on May 19.

The Queen did the same thing for Prince William and Kate Middleton ahead of their royal wedding in April 2011.
