Mother: Class continued after teacher fired gun

It all kicked off when Alexander was teaching public safety awareness in his administration of justice class at Seaside High School, and that's when his semiautomatic went off and hit the ceiling, ricocheting off the ceiling and sending fragments down below.

First responders arrived after a couple of minutes and took a male student to the nearby emergency room to received treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the neck area.

The weapon, which was not described, was pointed at the ceiling, according to a statement from the school, and debris fell from the ceiling.

According to KSBW, the father of the 17-year-old boy who was injured said Alexander had just told the class he wanted to make sure the firearm was not loaded when it went off. Alexander was planning to use the gun for a demonstration for how to disarm someone.

A teacher accidentally fired a gun inside a high school in Seaside, California on Tuesday.

One KSBW Facebook fan wrote: "This is clear example why teachers shouldn't have a gun".

"It's the craziest thing", said Gonzales, who added that bruising to his son's neck appeared to have been caused by a bullet fragment.

"I couldn't believe it, I couldn't believe it", Fermin's father Fermin Gonzales III said.

Oil prices fall on relentless rise in U.S. crude output
The Treasury Department will auction $21 billion in 10-year notes on Monday, as well as $28 billion in three-year notes. Asia is "a market that the Middle East does not really want to give up", ING's Patterson said.

"Best practice is you don't take live firearms into a classroom", Chief Pridgen told CBS. School officials placed him on leave and the student is expected to fully recover.

Classes at the school resumed after the incident.

Police said the teacher - who serves as a reserve police officer for Sandy City and a Seaside city councilman - last had a gun safety training "a little less than a year ago".

However, Marci McFadden, chief of communication and engagement with the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, said Monterey school district's policy does make an exception for school resource officers when it comes to carrying guns and other weapons on campus.

Smart out indefinitely with torn thumb tendon
Team officials said Irving, who had seven points in 16 minutes against in , had left knee soreness and was not returning. Smart is one of Boston's best defenders, and always seems to make a key play whenever the Celtics need it most.

This is, of course, in response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting in Florida, in which Trump suggested "highly trained" teachers be trained in the event of a future attack. Don't even want to read the comments on KSBW TV Action News 8's page because this guy has contributed more to his community than some rando spitting garbage on Facebook. He was the department's 2013 reserve officer of the year.
