Bad Boy rapper Craig Mack has died, aged 46

The "New York Daily News" is reporting that Mack's producer Alvin Toney said Mack succumbed to heart failure on Monday in Walterboro, South Carolina.

The Long Island MC is credited with helping Diddy launch Bad Boy Records, with the release of Mack's 1994 hit single "Flava in Ya Ear", Bad Boy's first official release. Via an introduction from rap group EPMD, he became one of the many proteges of Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs, who released Mack's album Project: Funk da World in 1994.

Toney told The Daily News that he last saw Mack in SC last week.

In 2012, after being away from the hip-hop scene for several years, a video was released in which Mack stated that he had joined the Overcomer Ministry, a conservative Pentecostal Christian organization. Mack had been working on a new record before he passed away. "He wasn't scared. He was ready", Toney said.

The song was remixed with performances by Busta Rhymes, the late Notorious BIG and LL Cool J.

"Rest in Peace CRAIG MACK". He had been ill for some time. Mo Bee produced a number of hits for Bad Boy on those first two albums, as well as two songs for 2Pac's Me Against the World.

The joint marketing campaign fromSean "Puffy" Combs and his new rambunctious start-up Bad Boy Records in NY was ambitious.
