Oakland Raiders releasing cornerback Sean Smith

He will plead guilty Tuesday to a felony count of assault with great bodily injury in connection with an altercation in Pasadena a year ago, according to the attorney for the alleged victim.

Back in August, Sean Smith was arrested on a felony assault charge for an alleged altercation that occurred on Independence Day after he brutally attacked Christopher Woods. Also Monday morning, The Los Angeles Times reported that Smith, 30, is expected to serve jail time for his role in an altercation that occurred a year ago in Pasadena.

The Raiders rumors surrounding the future of cornerback Sean Smith and the Oakland Raiders has been cloudy this offseason.

The Raiders released David Amerson, a starter last season when he was healthy, in February.
