Seahawks likely to release CB Richard Sherman

Reports Saturday morning indicated it may not take long for Richard Sherman to find a new home after he was released by the Seahawks on Friday.

San Francisco is Sherman's first visit and Pelissero reports that meetings with the team will continue through the afternoon.

Sherman has spent his entire career in Seattle. Sherman is also somewhat familiar with the scheme run by 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. The recovery timeline for an injury like that is generally 10 to 12 months, which means Sherman might not be ready for the beginning of the 2018 season.

Sherman turns 30 on March 30.

Sherman is obviously familiar with the Bay Area, having played five years at Stanford. Left behind was a sizable hole in their roster at the cornerback position that new general manager Brian Gutekunst may very well utilize free agency to fill out prior to the draft.
