Kevin Love Opens Up About In-Game Panic Attack

Love, 29, the star forward for the defending Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers, suffered the panic attack in the third quarter of the November 5 game against the Atlanta Hawks and led to a stay in the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland.com wrote.

Suddenly, all the things that drew me to the school triggered a feeling I'd never experienced.

"Today, I've realized I need to change that", Love wrote.

Changes are coming to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Selection Show
Add in the likes of Rawle Alkins and Dusan Ristic, and this group has the pieces needed to win three games in as many days. Kansas State (10 seed )- Kansas State is pretty safe in my eyes, unless they receive a bad loss in the Big 12 Tournament.

Love also wrote, "Mental health isn't just an athlete thing". There were just a few dozen students seated around me and nowhere to hide. Partly, I want to do it for me, but mostly, I want to do it because people don't talk about mental health enough.

The Cavaliers forward writes in an essay for the Players' Tribune that he had a panic attack during a game this season and he has spent most of his life afraid to accept there was something wrong with him. The event caused the 5-time All-Star to take a hard look at his mental health and ultimately led to regular appointments with a therapist.

Everyone is going through something you can't see.

'It's not nothing I'm against or ashamed of, ' he said. I know you don't just get rid of problems by talking about them, but I've learned that over time maybe you can better understand them and make them more manageable.

Doug Monette and dozens of law enforcement officers were on hand to monitor the event and the crowd it drew. A few Spencer supporters turned around instead of trying to get in, according to reports.

Now sidelined with a broken hand, the 29-year-old Love has averaged 17.9 points and 9.4 rebounds this season while appearing in 48 games. Love then reportedly came clean about his panic attacks.

The incident was passing, according to Love, who practiced the following day and posted 32 points and 16 rebounds in a win over the Milwaukee Bucks on November 7. 'Now, at my age, I understand how many people go through it.

"I was running from room to room, like I was looking for something I couldn't find", Love said. There is no "guys like me" or "guys like [X] don't struggle with these things". I was comfortable talking about basketball - but that came natural. Not once have I endured a panic attack at an arena or while covering a lottery, draft or all-star game. I want to share some of my thoughts about my panic attack and what's happened since. "I'm trying to be good to the people in my life".

As I was learning how to deal with chronic anxiety and control attacks, I started spending more and more time around the National Basketball Association, near the court, in locker rooms and talking to people I never thought I'd even meet.
