Police say it was students who noticed smoke coming from the backpack and alerted faculty.

"We will work with the student (s) and family of the student (s) responsible for this potentially disruptive behavior", West Boylston Principal Fournier wrote to parents on Tuesday.

The school was evacuated and multiple teams of law enforcement officers disarmed the device. Tulsa Police and Campus Police did a full sweep of the school and determined that there was no credible threat and students were able to return to the building.
