Frances McDormand's Oscar Was Stolen & The Details Are Scary

A man accused of stealing Frances McDormand's best actress Oscar from an official after-party has been arrested, Los Angeles police said on Monday.

Attorney Daniel Brookman acknowledged that suspect Terry Bryant can be seen on an Associated Press video holding McDormand's best actress statuette but those images don't rise to the seriousness of felony grand theft.

In what is perhaps the most weird story to come out of this year's Academy Awards, Frances McDormand's Oscar statue was briefly stolen from her table during the Governor's Ball, the official afterparty for the ceremony. Bryant, dressed in a tuxedo, said in a video posted on Facebook. A man, now identified by Los Angeles police as Terry Bryant, tried to make off with her statuette after grabbing it from her table.

She is upbeat that she will be up her feet to roar once again at the Grand Slam. She wants to share there is no wrong way to be a woman.

A tweet from Cara Buckley of The New York Times revealed that one of Wolfgang Puck's photographers first spotted Bryant with the Oscar, and stopped him after taking notice.

"What's up babies? Look it baby ... got this tonight. Okay, that's what it feels like", McDormand said on stage. The actress had previously won the Golden Globe, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award for playing Mildred in writer-director Martin McDonagh's dark comedy. "Somebody tried to steal my Oscar at the Governors Ball", she told producer Jason Blum.

"Who wants to wish me congratulations?" he asked fellow revelers who were walking by, before posing for several selfies. This is mine! Where's the Jimmy Kimmel party at?
