China to scrap cap on presidential, vice presidential terms today

China to scrap cap on presidential, vice presidential terms today

The term limits in China were put in place in 1982 to keep them from going back into any type of dictatorship. It is conducive to uphold the authority of the Central Committee of the party with Xi Jinping at the core and also unified leadership.

The proposal to remove the presidential term limit from the constitution has dominated global discussions about China since it was announced last month, sparking fears of a unsafe return to one-man rule.

Acknowledging their contribution to achievements made in the past five years, Xi called on non-communist parties and people without party affiliation to enhance confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, consolidate political orientation and actively offer their suggestions. In this way, there is continuity.

"No, he's great", he said.

Manning sells Denver Papa John's franchises, but still spokesman
Earlier this year, Schnatter blamed slowing sales growth at Papa John's - an NFL sponsor and advertiser - on the outcry surrounding football players kneeling during the national anthem.

Xinhua cited a budget report submitted Monday to the first session of the 13th National People's Congress now underway in Beijing.

The proposal has sparked off concern and speculation at home and overseas that the 64-year-old Xi, who heads the CPC and military besides the presidency and recently began his second five-year term, would continue for an unprecedented third term and beyond, wielding unquestionable power exercised by the party founder Mao Zedong in the heyday of China's revolution.

"China and the USA, the two major countries, bear special duties in this regard", he said. "You never know. I hope she's happy".

Last month, the 64-year-old Xi proposed that China abolish term limits for president, reversing a precedent established after the death of Chairman Mao Zedong in 1976. The rubber-stamp congress will revise the national constitution to allow Xi to stay on past the 2023 end of his term, endorse new appointments and approve government reform centering on the creation of an anti-corruption watchdog. "It reflects the will of the people".

Germany and EU hit back at Donald Trump's trade war threat
Trump tweeted earlier yesterday that "Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum will only come off if new & fair NAFTA agreement is signed". Lidington also says Britain's experience shows that protectionism doesn't work. "The trade war hurts them".

Since announcing plans to impose a 25% tariff on steel imports and 10% on aluminium, Trump has shrugged off threats from other nations, boasting on Friday that "trade wars are good and easy to win". "It's the difference between heaven and earth compared to the endless debates for their own political interests between certain ruling and opposition parties in the West", it wrote, without saying which foreign reporters had offered praise.

Today, 3,000 lawmakers of China's legislature will start a two-week session in Beijing to formalise high level government appointments and officially approve the removal of constitutional term limits for President Xi Jinping.

The comments were made as the recently announced intention of the United States to impose tariffs has heightened global concerns over potential trade confrontations, particularly those between the world's two largest economies. In truth, it is little more than a rubber stamp for party decisions.
