Google Lens is now rolling out for all Android users

Google Lens, once exclusive to Pixel and Pixel 2 smartphones, is now available for certain Android smartphone or tablet user, so long as you have Google Photos downloaded, the company announced yesterday.

Google has been developing newer versions of Android every year and the latest version of Android that was released in the third quarter of 2017 was named as Android 8.0 Oreo. Lens is not an indispensable tool, but can be useful at times and hopefully will get more features as it continues to roll out.

Lens will also allow users to create a contact from a business card or identify a landmark. "To start, make sure you have the latest version of the Google Photos app for Android".

In our experience, Google Lens offered mixed results.

The Lens feature on Google Photos can be launched by basically tapping on the Lens icon in pictures uploaded to the application.

The Android security update for March 2018 are already live for a number of devices. The options displayed will depend on the information Google gleans from your photo. That means that even if you have an Android device with Google Photos installed, you may not be able to use Lens.
